| School: | Colton High School | |
| Explanation: | This is Coach Sperber's packet from the Treasure State Clinic. He has some very good suggestions on how to build an 8-man program and how to run the option! | |
| A. | Mike and Nose are stacked. Therefore, Nose is first man head up for the Center and Mike is first man inside fro the guard. |

| B. | This gap defense shows the down block clearly. |

| Notice: | Same rules apply to Lead Option. |
| 1. | Causes defenses to shift to strength or play it straight up. |
| 2. | Shift opens weak side to dive option. |
| 3. | Playing it straight up creates a numerical advantage on the strong side and makes defense vulnerable to the crossbuck. |

| QB - | Take a deep open step, followed by a short gather step. |
| Ride the dive back with two hands on the ball. Protect the ball with your forearms. Allow the ride to square your sholders to EMOL. | |
| If you give, finish the option play as you normally would. | |
| If you ride, sprint at and to EMOL. If EMOL crosses your face, turn up field and become a runner first and secondary pitch man last. If EMOL chooses you, sit in the chair, point your toe, and pitch from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock. | |
| FB - | Sprint throught the LOS aiming 15 yds up field. Keep both hands on the ball until you are past 15 yds. This applies whether you have the ball or not. |
| TB - | Keep your 2 x 5 relationship at all times. Don't get lazy, look for the secondary pitch. |
